By now you can tell camping is our #1 family activity. And its also where the majority of my time is spent burning through rolls of film. Over Rowan's Spring Break, we spent 6 days in Cayucos and it was one of my most favorite trips yet. Its a sleepy little beach town north of Pismo and San Luis Obispo. Our camp ground was up on a hill that overlooked the entire town and was walking distance from everything. A perfect set up for 6 days. Cannot way to go back someday.
The first half of our commute was to Bakersfield for the Easter weekend. Which of course I didn't take any photos of. :-/ Then from there, we caravanned to the coast with my parents.
Contax T2, Kodak Tri-X 400, processed and scanned at home.
^^ Grapevine truck stop to stretch legs, eat snacks and change Sawyer's diaper.
^^ Caravanning to Cayucos with my parents means HAMM radios courtesy of my dad. It wouldn't be a road trip with out his HAMM radios.
^^ Rowan in his bunk. That's our bed window below him. #noprivacy
^^ Making the walk into town from our campground.
^^ Best playground ever! Modest equipment with a killer view. :)
^^ HUGE progress in the Sawyer vs. The Beach fight. Actually standing in the sand and not freaking out... HUGE.
^^ That baby belly!
^^ The moment Sawyer realized he was standing on the stand, just feet from the water.
^^Harmony Headlands hike. Probably 3-4 miles round trip and a great easy hike to the ocean cliffs and back.
^^ "Hey Mom, I have one frame left. SMILE!"
^^ "Oopsy. Nope. NOW I have one frame left. Dad, smile!"
^^ "Hey Rowan, put your arm around your brother." Otherwise known as, The Brotherly Chokehold.
^^ Attempting to fly a cheap kite. Spoiler... it didn't fly.
^^ Please note this vintage Levi's jean jacket that I thrifted for $3.
^^ The men being manly and lighting the grill in preparation for our dinner.
^^ Our campground.
^^ Sawyer running to his Papa!
^^ After 5 days of camping, we weren't quite ready to leave the beach, so we packed up and headed South to Pismo for our last night. During the 5 hour window between having to check out of Cayucos and check into Pismo, we parked along the beach in Avila and played the day away in the sand and surf. One of my most favorite days of the trip and it wasn't even planned! A reminder to always be open to new adventure.
^^ Final night. GIVE THEM ALL THE ELECTRONICS!! We never want a camping trip to end... until we realize its the final night and we automatically become DONE entertaining our children. So its cartoons and chill inside while the parents wine and chill outside.
^^ The process of returning our trailer back to storage is THE WORST part of camping. We have a TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT spot and it takes about 47 tries before we get it in. I'm 100% certain we are going to get stuck one day, Austin Power's style.
^^ During the chaos of trying to squeeze our trailer into its storage spot, Rowan had the melt down of the century, which resulted in me throwing his toy across the storage yard (not pictured) and then Sawyer peeing through his diaper. Leaving him pants-less. Good times.
